Participation charter

Rules applying to contributions, comments, messages and other spaces for expression that Historic Prism may make available to readers.

Last updated · 15 September 2026
01

A space for disagreement, not intimidation

Disagreement is part of the editorial project. Users may challenge an article, interpretation, source or another participant, provided they do so without threats, harassment or targeted attacks.

Reasoned disagreement is welcome; intimidation and harassment campaigns are not.

02

Prohibited content

Prohibited content includes credible threats, incitement to violence, unlawful hateful or discriminatory speech, harassment, malicious disclosure of personal data, impersonation, spam, scams and manifestly illegal content.

Reproducing shocking speech for documentation or discussion may be permitted where it is contextualised and is not used to amplify harm.

03

Facts, sources and allegations

Where a contribution makes a serious allegation or presents a disputed fact as established, Historic Prism may request a source, add a warning, limit visibility or remove the contribution.

Knowingly inventing a quotation, source or document in order to deceive other participants may lead to account suspension.

04

Moderation

Historic Prism may moderate, hide or remove a contribution that breaches this charter or the law, and may temporarily or permanently restrict access to participatory functions in cases of repeated or serious abuse.

Moderation does not imply editorial endorsement of every contribution that remains online. Statements published by users do not bind Historic Prism.

05

Rights over contributions

Users retain the rights they hold over their contributions. By publishing in a Historic Prism participatory space, they grant Historic Prism a non-exclusive permission to host, display and reproduce the contribution to the extent necessary for operation, moderation and archiving of the service.

Users guarantee that they have the necessary rights over what they publish and respect third-party rights.

06

Reporting and challenges

Users may report content they consider unlawful or contrary to this charter through the contact channel indicated in the Legal Notice. A sufficiently precise request will be examined within a reasonable period.

Reporting contact details will be activated at the same time as public participatory features.
